Our Customers Rock!

by Cheri on January 28, 2012

This year’s chili cook off to benefit the St. Louis Area Foodbank was a great success. Thanks to all the great restaurants who participated. And the winner, by a large margin, drum roll please…Sunny Street Cafe (formerly Rise and Dine).

The race for second place was very close, within a few votes.  Final tally,  2nd place winner goes to Big Chief Roadhouse.  Big Bear Grill, I.J’s (formerly Indigo Joe’s)  and Clancy’s all made very respectable showings.  Please remember to visit these local eateries and let them know you appreciate their generosity.

Thanks to all our great customers, who donated a total of $301 to the St. Louis Area Foodbank.  Wines Of Wildwood is matching these donations dollar for dollar, plus a bit extra, for a total of $625.  Thanks to your generosity, we also collected approximately 270 food items!

Customer Steven Moore was very excited when his name was drawn as the winner of the $150 gift box for his food donations to the St. Louis Area Foodbank.

Your food gifts are overflowing… thank you!

New Year, New Fun

by Cheri on January 3, 2012

For us, January is a time to reflect on our blessings and plan how we want to live in the new year.  We want to start off in a positive direction, and hope you will join us all this month in support of the St. Louis Area Foodbank.  There are three different ways you can help:

Join us here on facebook, and tell your friends.  For each new “Like” we get on our facebook page, we will donate $1 directly to the foodbank, up to $200.

Every time you visit our store, drop off non perishable food items. For each item you donate, you get to register for a chance to win a fabulous wine basket full of exceptional wines and tasty treats ($150 value).

Come to our fifth annual Chili Cook Off, 12-4 p.m. Saturday, January 28th.  We have asked local restaurants to submit their best chili, and we will all get to vote for a winner.  We also will be serving four wines we have chosen to enhance your chili experience.  Your voluntary $3-$5 donation goes directly to the St. Louis Area Foodbank, and Wines Of Wildwood will match your total donation up to $300.

And the winner is…

by Cheri on December 5, 2011

Everyone had a great time at last week’s blind red wine tasting class.  Four attendees were able to correctly identify 4 out of 8 types of wine.  Impressive! First place for flavor:  Decoy Zinfandel. Next was Line 39 Petite Sirah and third place, Layer Cake Primitivo (a Zinfandel clone).  Come in and try these great, customer recommended wines!

Support the Little Guys

by Cheri on November 25, 2011

This Saturday, November 26 is National Small Business Saturday.  Everyone is enouraged to think big and shop small.  Your locally owned hometown stores:

  • Put .68 of every dollar back into your local economy
  • Account for 65% of all new jobs
  • Support local community schools and charities
  • Employ local residents

So why shop at Wines Of Wildwood? We know it’s tempting to just grab a bottle of some mass-produced something while ricocheting through big box and grocery stores, but following is why you should buy your wines from us:

  1. Better prices: Grocery stores will have one or two “loss leaders” to tempt you, but generally their prices are higher than ours…even those “special” yellow tag prices are often higher than our regular prices.
  2. Better selections:  Big box stores offer mass-produced wines for the masses. We have more than 1,000 different wines (about 5,000 bottles) all carefully chosen with our customers’ tastes and wallets in mind.
  3. Higher quality:  We steer away from factory wines and bring you much higher quality, smaller production wines from highly acclaimed, mostly family-owned vineyards worldwide.
  4. Better wines for any wallet:  If you have only $10 to spend on a wine, we can find you something much better that doesn’t even have a kangaroo or bare feet on it.
  5. Better service:  First, there is some! We greet and help each and every customer, and because we love our jobs, it’s a fun, happy place to shop. Bring in a menu, your likes and price range, and we’ll help you find the perfect wine match.

Of course, we also hope that you will consider how important it is where you spend your money. We are a local, family run hometown business that helps make Wildwood Wildwood. We hope to see you many times during this holiday season and beyond.
