Hop On In…

by Cheri on April 5, 2012

Come in to Wines Of Wildwood and select your special spring libations from among over 1,000 different wines in all styles and price ranges.  Here are some quick food pairing suggestions for some traditional Easter and spring foods:

Ham: Riesling, unoaked Chardonnay, fruity California Pinot Noir, Beaujolais and Zinfandel.

Lamb:  Red Bordeaux, Cabernet Sauvignon, Tempranillo, Shiraz, Zinfnadel.

Brunch and/or  Egg Dishes:  Champagne, Moscato, Cava or other sparkling wines, Pinot Gris, unoaked Chardonnay, Riesling.

Grilled Steaks:  Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah/Shiraz, Zinfandel

Grilled Chicken: Oaky California Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Shiraz/Syrah, Zinfandel.

Barbecue Sauced Meats:  Australian Shiraz, Zinfandel (especially with ribs!), Cabernet Sauvignon, Barbera, or Rose Champagne.

Two easy food pairing ideas, first, when in doubt, pick Pinot.  Pinot Noir is a very food friendly wine that most people enjoy.  Also, Champagne and sparklings go with almost all foods from appetizers through desserts.

Hop on in and we will help you select the perfect wine for your table and pocketbook.

We still have a few delicious, hand decorated chocolate covered Easter cookies... Great in baskets or on the holiday table!

Our Customers Rock!

by Cheri on January 28, 2012

This year’s chili cook off to benefit the St. Louis Area Foodbank was a great success. Thanks to all the great restaurants who participated. And the winner, by a large margin, drum roll please…Sunny Street Cafe (formerly Rise and Dine).

The race for second place was very close, within a few votes.  Final tally,  2nd place winner goes to Big Chief Roadhouse.  Big Bear Grill, I.J’s (formerly Indigo Joe’s)  and Clancy’s all made very respectable showings.  Please remember to visit these local eateries and let them know you appreciate their generosity.

Thanks to all our great customers, who donated a total of $301 to the St. Louis Area Foodbank.  Wines Of Wildwood is matching these donations dollar for dollar, plus a bit extra, for a total of $625.  Thanks to your generosity, we also collected approximately 270 food items!

Customer Steven Moore was very excited when his name was drawn as the winner of the $150 gift box for his food donations to the St. Louis Area Foodbank.

Your food gifts are overflowing… thank you!

New Year, New Fun

by Cheri on January 3, 2012

For us, January is a time to reflect on our blessings and plan how we want to live in the new year.  We want to start off in a positive direction, and hope you will join us all this month in support of the St. Louis Area Foodbank.  There are three different ways you can help:

Join us here on facebook, and tell your friends.  For each new “Like” we get on our facebook page, we will donate $1 directly to the foodbank, up to $200.

Every time you visit our store, drop off non perishable food items. For each item you donate, you get to register for a chance to win a fabulous wine basket full of exceptional wines and tasty treats ($150 value).

Come to our fifth annual Chili Cook Off, 12-4 p.m. Saturday, January 28th.  We have asked local restaurants to submit their best chili, and we will all get to vote for a winner.  We also will be serving four wines we have chosen to enhance your chili experience.  Your voluntary $3-$5 donation goes directly to the St. Louis Area Foodbank, and Wines Of Wildwood will match your total donation up to $300.
